He brings an entrepreneurial mind-set and background along with a quick-wit and creativity to his work which makes him particularly skilled at helping clients think creatively about what comes next for them in their careers.
As an award-winning author (Power Your Career: The Art of Tactful Self-Promotion), he is a frequent public speaker on the topics of career strategy, personal branding, networking, and how to build authority/become a thought leader. He is recognized for his expertise in leveraging social media and facilitating both live and technology-based learning.
At Navigate Forward, Richard leads the LinkedIn practice with comprehensive hands-on training sessions tailored to the needs of senior executives. He has served as an adjunct faculty member at the Carlson School of Management, where he taught courses on strategic human resource issues.
For more than a decade, Richard was a VP at an international career transition firm with prior experience that includes leading learning design for a training and development consulting firm and launching start-ups in technology and professional services. He earned his degree in Humanities from U.C. Berkeley.
For fun Richard attends theater, spends time with his family (which often includes binge-watching the latest shows), and reads almost anything. He also loves performing and has had the opportunity to play numerous roles with In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theater. As an avid volunteer, he loves that Navigate Forward is committed to giving back to the community.
