Boutique Firm Answers Demand of Clients Ready to Make the Leap to
Corporate or Non-Profit Board Service
MINNEAPOLIS – (June 14, 2010) Navigate Forward, a local boutique consulting firm specializing in executive transition services, is expanding its practice to provide Board Readiness consulting services for leaders and executives. Their offering will include a board readiness seminar and customized, individual board readiness coaching. The new service will focus on helping senior and executive level leaders prepare, plan and position themselves for successful corporate or non-profit board candidacy.
“Sometimes leaders can underestimate all that goes into planning and positioning themselves for being on a corporate or non-profit board,” said Teresa Daly, co-founder and managing partner of Navigate Forward. “They can have all the management experience in the world, but not have much of an idea of how that translates to meaningful board experience for them. Board positions don’t just ‘come along’ for most executives. Executives need to be clear about what they can contribute and they need the right plan, tools, and connections to make it happen. This new practice area will help our clients understand their level of board ‘readiness’ and give them the right tools to successfully market themselves for board positions.”
The service is offered as a group seminar as well as a more in-depth, personalized coaching program. Some topics and information addressed will include:
- The landscape of corporate and non-profit boards in today’s market, and what organizations look for in board directors.
- Assessment of the client’s suitability, expertise, readiness and qualifications for board positions.
- Development of the right tools and strategies to position oneself favorably for future board opportunities.
- Development of a personal plan to improve credentials and readiness for board service.
- Development of an actionable plan to market oneself effectively to achieve board service.
